The movie was a fantasy, romance, drama. Again, though it wasn’t my favorite genre but after knowing the main characters were played by Tilda Swinton, and Idris Elba, I became curious to watch it specially that it was talking some historical events like king Solomon, with added to some new cinematic effects.

At first the entire story might look similar to Aladdin and his magical lamp but when you go deep In the meaning and the subtle lessons you try to learn from it, then you can see the beauty and creativity in the film.

Two main things I have learned from this fiction movie was the value of love;

“Love is a gift. It’s a gift of oneself given freely. It’s not something one can ever ask for.” – Alithea Binnie

The tale of a djinn around love and his commitment to it and how the pain has cost him years of life of loneliness touched by a human who tries to reach the height of enlightenment.

And the other was the value of life shared with others.

“We exist only if we are REAL to others” – Genie

When combined the two I felt how love and appreciation of people in our lives (even those strangers who cross our path with) may actually be the reason that gives meaning to our lives.

When you think of it a man’s life is actually a journey shared at many points with many others, and along the way we try to find the true meaning of things that may give us a better understanding of what we get out of life. Mat that be a love one, children, parents, friends, a pet, etc.

But at the end we may reach the point to realize it is the unconditional love without regret that helps us to reach that understanding which leads us to peace of mind. Somehow the enlightenment.

And guess what, when we realize it is by loving one another without expecting anything in return and being able to do that without judgment is what makes us truly happy. Imagine a world were everyone is like that and everyone has such a belief.

And that’s the true power of love.
