Calligraphy

There is a saying among my colleagues here that goes “the worse a doctor’s hand writing the better and knowledgeable he is!” though the justification for such a saying is that because the mind of that doctor is working so fast that his penmanship cannot reach his mind’s processing speed therefore, he is better but I think that just a justification of lack of patience.

So after enjoying fascinating English calligraphy arts and with the history I carried since childhood (I used to take Persian Calligraphy -Nastaliq- classes as a child during high school and also self-learned some Arabic calligraphy -Sols and Naskh- I decided to learn Latin Calligraphy too. So, I started self-teaching and buying the necessary materials.

Back then and also living in Iran makes it really hard to pursue some of your dreams due to lack of recourses -though now there are very few suppliers- but as I always say and believe “if there is will there are ways!” I managed to avail some basic instruments and started practice.

Later I added water color painting to some of my calligraphy works to add color to it. Though I never claimed a master in it but writing beautifully says a lot about the personality of the writer and hence I make sure to try and write beautifully even in my prescriptions for my patients. I usually add a persian poem or a quote as a remembrance. And aside from their gratitude some come back and amazingly say things like “that quote you wrote me that day was exactly what I needed to hear. Your writing lifted me up! Thank you!”, brings me joy and maybe that’s mark I am living now, by leaving some a beautiful mark.

Here are some of those works and some of my prescriptions. Hope you find it nice too. 😊
